What termite treatment should I use and how much does termite treatment cost?
It’s extremely important to select the right type of Termite Treatment or Control for your home. The age or construction type of your home will determine what treatment for termites is best suited for you. The two most common methods of termite treatment or control are Termite Management Systems and Termite Bait Systems. We discuss these in further detail below.

Termite Management Systems are used to protect the home against termites for up to eight years. The cost for a Termite Management System will vary from between $2,000 and $3,500 for a small to large home.

OPTION 1: THE QUICK FIX
This treats the area of live termites only. These treatments can be done by either a spray treatment, foaming treatment or dusting treatment. Let’s say there’s a customer who has termites in her window frame in the lounge room – treatments for a quick fix would cost between $330.00 and $660.00. In this cost, the customer would get the affected areas only treated using dust, foam or spray/inject.
OPTION 2: TERMITE TREATMENT
Termite damaged areas in the window frame and wall cavity would have small piercings put into the affected areas and the application of product applied directly into the termite workings.
OPTION 3: TERMITE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Termite Management Systems are used to protect the home against termites for up to eight years. A Termite Management System involves trenching around the perimeter of the home and drilling small holes through external paths and slabs to form a completely treated zone around the home.
OPTION 4: TERMITE BAIT SYSTEMS
Termite Bait Systems are also designed to eliminate termites before they enter your home and are great for termite protection. They usually cost between $2,500 to $3,500 for a small to large home. Pest companies can cut costs on these by servicing the baits less often, however these bait systems should be serviced and baited every four weeks on a 12-month program. Some homes suit a Termite Bait System over a Termite Barrier.
The Pros and Cons of Termite Management Systems versus Termite Bait Systems
Termite Management Systems, once done with a non-repellent chemical such as Termidor, will protect your home for five to eight years. The only cost is a yearly termite inspection to ensure there are no conducive conditions that will weaken the treatment zone. A Termite Management System usually costs between $2,000 – $3,500.
Termite Bait Systems will cost between $2,500 – $3,500 and include servicing, monitoring and baiting for 12 months only. Each year thereafter, the service fee is usually $800 – $900 to maintain the baits. Over time, this method can end up costing a home owner triple the cost of a Termite Management System.

What about cheap termite treatments?
A cheap termite treatment will usually be done using an inferior and less costly termite treatment chemical that is a repellent type.
